Mini recensione 2 - Little review 2

Return the mini-reviews of 3 three books that are of relatively recent reading. They are typically female, but do not worry about the next round is dedicated to noir and fantasy!
I wanted to focus on these three books in particular because they express the concept written in the heart, in three different ways ... as always, good reads!

Vorrei che fosse amore
The oppposite of love
Julie Buxbaum

Coinvolge, fa piangere, emozionare e riflettere .... Consigliatissimo.

With perfect pitch for the humor and heartbreak of everyday life, Julie Buxbaum has fashioned a heroine who will be instantly recognizable to anyone who has loved and lost and loved again. When successful twenty-nine-year-old Manhattan attorney Emily Haxby ends her happy relationship just as her boyfriend is on the verge of proposing, she can’t explain to even her closest friends why she did it. Somewhere beneath her sense of fun, her bravado, and her independent exterior, Emily knows that her breakup with Andrew has less to do with him and more to do with...her. “You’re your own worst enemy,” her best friend Jess tells her. “It’s like you get pleasure out of breaking your own heart.” As the holiday season looms and Emily contemplates whether she made a huge mistake, the rest of her world begins to unravel: she is assigned to a multimillion-dollar lawsuit where she must defend the very values she detests by a boss who can’t keep his hands to himself; her Grandpa Jack, a charming, feisty octogenarian and the person she cares most about in the world, is losing it, while her emotionally distant father has left her to cope with this alone; and underneath it all, fading memories of her deceased mother continue to remind her that love doesn’t last forever. ow this brave, original young heroine finally decides to take control of her life and face the fears that have long haunted her is the great achievement of Julie Buxbaum’s marvelous first novel. Written with the authority, grace, and wisdom of an author far beyond her years, The Opposite of Love heralds the debut of a remarkable talent in contemporary fiction.

And 'one of the novels that border on perfection, I mean, both the plot and the emotions it conveys to the reader. Also, I can not speak for everyone obviously, but I found myself very much, both for the evolution and transformation that the protagonist makes between the relationships, which for the inner development that each of us has to make the threshold of mythical 30 years, I think.
Some passages I liked so much to Xerox them and hang them on the fridge, because they express with effective words of the questions that I would one day meet, as it happens to Emily (blessed her).
As you may have guessed from above is not a novel in which we take in hand the belly with laughter, but neither is it a dramatic reading, quiet! And 'the introspective journey of a thirty year old that when they suspect that the boyfriend to ask her to marry him panics and spring a boyfriend, you goof up with work and looking between a crush and the other to roll up our sleeves and figure out what he wants. If you have heard or read books with a similar plot does not matter, forget it, you have not read THIS book. It 'a wonderful novel, written with talent, passion and intensity that we perceive from cover to cover! It involves, makes you cry, move and think .... Highly recommended.

Tutta colpa del tacco 12
Confessions of a Reluctant Recessionista
Amy Silver
Piemme
Pagine 240

Libro leggero e molto carino.

As most of us can probably recall, the announcement of the recession was particularly tough. Cue fears of pay cuts and endless job-hunting, and swapping expensive takeaways for value noodles. Any victim of the recession can probably relate to tales of redundancy and the dreaded cutting back - and journalist Amy Silver's debut, Confessions of a Reluctant Recessionista, explores exactly this - in a fantastically funny way.
Cassie Cavanagh is perfectly content in her job as a PA at a large financial company. Sure, she's not a high-flying trader like her boyfriend Dan and best friend, but life is good. Having just been given the gift of a pair of new Louboutins out of the blue from Dan, Cassie feels lucky to have a nice flat, a decent job and a partner who doesn't stop showering her with presents. And ignoring warnings of a looming recession, she books that romantic weekend away. After all, the credit crunch won't hit everyone, right?
However, Cassie soon find herself in deep trouble when - lo and behold - she's made redundant. What's more, City boy Dan soon dumps her for an older, more glamorous woman.
What happens when you lose everything in a matter of days? Cassie's about to find out...

Light and very nice novel. It runs in a few pages so if you do not have much time and want to read something in a few hours without thinking too much about you and this book in your hands ... you have chosen the ideal book! I will not elaborate much because it is not really anything special, she looks a lot like Rebecca I love shopping, when she is sad, depressed, drained by the boyfriend and the head of what it does? Of course combines the credit card and have to start over everything, the social scale, work, friends, coworkers, boyfriend. It affects the ending that I learned and appreciated by all, in my opinion, being a book of law that enters into a generally well defined and for which evidently aims ... why not end it in a certain way???? Not a bad or sad ending, but no doubt he could finish better than it was ... However, good writing, and ironic jokes that draw heavily on the book!

La Governante

Problemi Domestici
Confessions of a Reluctant Recessionista
Charlotte Perkins Gilman
Astoria Editore
Pagine 100
9,00 euro
--oOo--

How to combine the needs of women with domestic commitments? How to love, think, do your job, be independent if every day, every day, we must take care to organize and operate the domestic life?
These delightful stories, subtle, ironic, offering a range of possible solutions, revolutionary when they were written, interesting and curious today.
In some men almost too-perfect-to-be-true solutions are imaginative and effective to rescue their comrades from tedious tasks; other women organize themselves and gain economic independence, the freedom to continue their work despite become mothers or wives.
Charlotte Perkins Gilman manages to show with lightness and humor, frustration and suffocation felt by women in a world dominated by men with relative ease and shows how women can find the mental and spiritual.
This book is a mini booklet, both as a really small pages (about 100) that as the format (it's in one hand). Don't be fooled by the size or the pages, because the 5 stories in this volume are the micro really very nice, enjoyable and divinely written. Also raise with wit and social conscience of the time series problems that were once soothed and kept within the four walls, but that we still afflict modern society. We find problems as a non - wants to remarry, attempted suicide because of postpartum depression, we find the family conflicts, the relationship husband wife, the highly popular relationship mother-in-law - daughter - his favorite son, etc ...
It 'a book for fun and irreverent themes and enjoyable if you have little time, good will to the author, read a good standard and both irony and sarcasm.
