---o- Trama -o---

Translation of the review
The Girl Who Chased the Moon

A girl looking for answers ...
A giant grandfather ...
A woman who escapes by hiding in the past from the future ...
A man who does not give up ...
A mysterious family that does not come out at night ...
A boy who wants to break an old tradition ...

The book I am speaking about today is the book by an author that I love very much, so I put my hands up and say to you that I will be definitely part of ...

---o- Plot -o---

Imagine having 17 years, to call Emily, has long been an orphan of father and mother a few months. Imagine you want to go back to the places where your mother was born and raised, in order to breathe her memories and try to hear the still close. Imagine you dive slowly in a small town - Mullaby - especially curious where your grandfather (your mother's father) is a two-meter giant who has the habit of watching mechanically the washing machine drum, where the family richer and more important to the country never goes out at night, where the wallpaper changes to where you sleep all your state of mind, where there are lights that shine in the night in the woods, where your neighbor - Julia - is adorable and prepares delicious cakes and hides many secrets (through his hair, arms, ex-boyfriend) and your mother, as indeed does a little bit throughout the city that hates your mother deeply and absolutely does not want to tell you why. Would not you be curious? What would you do?

---o- Consideration -o---

I tell you immediately that the books of Allen, at least if you've never read, are really very special! Not only because it introduces some magical element and / or supernatural (without getting to talk about vampires & co.) But also because it manages to create deeply engaging and super romantic atmosphere!

Her stories are sugary, and the fact that - almost everyone - the stars and create love sweets, but also because, to a romantic level, the plots are very sweet, you are immediately aware, you get the feeling of sinking into clouds cotton candy, to bathe in cups of hot chocolate and marshmallows, to remain entangled in fruit tarts licking and candied apples! It 's lovely and amazing as the story and the writing of Allen wrap gently and unconsciously the reader, like a thread of wool is wrapped around a finger!
His books in general, and this in particular, using the magic of childhood memories of sweets tied to evoke the past, memories of the protagonists, those more or less bitter and does so with grace, respect and immediately evokes the emotion and attachment to Emily, but especially for Julia.
In "The Girl who chased the moon" is mostly smell the thread of the story, and the gentle way to stimulate and connect memories shared by the characters: Emily Julia's mother Emily Coffey ancient family, etc. ...
It 's one thing I love about this writer, the ability to capture emotions, like fireflies in a jar, and riportarcele intact and moving and enjoyable. Good because reading is difficult to perceive the aromas and sensations that the writer - in this case - trying to communicate, but Allen succeeds amazingly well in history and involving more!
The stories in this novel, as usual, are two, run parallel and we are told in first person by the two female leads, a very young age, Emily and the other adult, Julia. Two protagonists at odds for age, experience, past and way of seeing and dealing with life and the mysteries of Mullaby.

Emily comes to town and tries to integrate, to take part in the life of the city, trying to discover the past of the mother, even though it is not what he believed and wanted to know, build a friendship that seems all wrong, but that is what Win with want - when you feel attracted to - and I can not do without and is open and kind to everyone.
Julia is just as good and kind, but when it comes to Mullaby after years of separation to sell the restaurant - barbecue (J's Barbecue) of his father, he knows that will be the time to earn enough money to pay off debts and sell the club, he wants to escape from This mysterious city that stifles with its secrets and always remember who it was and not what has become, wants to forget the past, the old friendships, the memories that each corner of the bench and set Mullaby. Also things get complicated when her boyfriend in high school - Edward - haunts her nicely to get back with her when he learns to have a good chance of being able to break again in the heart of Julia. Not so easy though, to wade through a heavy heart from the many scars that he himself helped to cause, but not impossible!
How unusual skill Allen manages to weave the threads and make good slide narration always simple and addictive. I say with unusual skill because although the story of Emily is very nice and pretty, is the story of Julia, the one with more emotional strength, greater involvement and that attracts magnetically with extraordinary interest, at least from my point of view. Importance which I guess is also the title, because Julia is just the girl who chases the moon!
I recommend you read it because it is a beautiful book, poignant, tender and sweet as an apple pie just baggy!
